Ron Fraser Memorial Fluffy Duck Rally
Seventeen competitors gathered at Paterson Park for the 2026 Ron Fraser Memorial Fluffy Duck Rally, an event organized by the Australian Historic Rally Group. The event had been postponed due to the fuel crises, but the weather gods were not being very kind as it was raining, not heavy rain, but rain none the less. This year’s event was held over two days, starting at Paterson, and then heading to an overnight stop at Muswellbrook. Day two lopped out of Muswellbrook to a finish at Gundy. The Fluffy Duck for this year was also divided into two routes, one all bitumen route and the other containing a fair amount of dirt road. Ten competitors tackled the dirt road route while seven took on the bitumen route. Due to the weather some competitors contested the event using modern cars, but the hardy ones got some mud on their cars. The dirt road competitors enjoyed a morning tea stop at a Cafe near East Gresford before continuing onto Muswellbrook. Day two contained some great roads through scenic country side in the upper Hunter Valley, only interrupted by a herd of cattle on one of the roads. The organizer managed to find some roads not used in events for many a long year, which added to the challenge. The next event for the Australian Historic Rally Group is the Event Green Rally in just a few weeks.
